Fashiola criticized, NLC set to strike, as electricity tariffs rise

Following the increase in electricity tariff, as set by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the minister for power, works and housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has come under heavy criticism.
Fashola had said on Teusday, February 2, that the increment in electricity tariff will improve power supply. Noting that the increment was not unlawful, the minister stressed that the rise in tariff is increase the standard of supply in a bid to keep investors who will pull out if they get no returns on their investments.

However, the change in tariff did not go down well with the Trade Union Congress which in reaction has lambasted Fashola for insisting that increase in electricity tariff is the only way to enhance stable power supply in Nigeria.

Crisis beckons for APC as over 7,000 members decamp to PDP

Over 7,000 APC members defect to the PDP in Benue state. Aggrieved members are channeling support for David Mark’s reelection bid. PDP welcomes them with open hands

David Mark has defected APC members behind him as he seeks reelection to the Nigerian Senate.

This Day reports that the aggrieved members defected to the PDP in Otukpa, Ogbadibo local government area of the state.
Matthew Ochigbo, a one-time chairman of PDP reportedly led the defectors who also dumped their APC membership cards.

AN OPEN LETTER TO MY MISSING RIB

Hi Rib,

I’ve read and heard more than a thousand times about the fact that I have a missing rib. I have always pondered about what this phrase really meant. I have always wondered about what this so called missing rib really looked like. And I have asked myself severally, ‘Do I really have a missing rib?’ But I’m walking perfectly and doing just fine that it doesn’t seem like something is missing in me. (Lolz)

I’m so confused that I really can’t explain if there is indeed a rib missing in me. I wondered ‘is this phrase really true or is it just to emphasize your importance? I also learned of your relevance and the fact that you will contribute a lot to my future and career. I read that you will always be there with me and for me and I wondered if such presence will really be created. Are you for real or are you just a myth? 

I also heard that you will leave your original habitat and come cleave forever with me till death do us part. I was also told that once we come together, we will become entwined and become one single soul, mind and body. Is that really possible? How do we become one? Are we going to stay glued together that we will never be separated forever? I really can’t fathom the picture.

Liverpool fans plan walkout protest over ticket prices

Liverpool also announced this week that some season tickets for the 2016-17 campaign would be priced at more than 1,000 pounds for the first time.

Liverpool could suffer the embarrassment of a mass exodus on Saturday with supporters' groups calling on fans to leave their seats during the Premier League match against Sunderland at Anfield to protest a rise in ticket prices.

Two prominent groups have urged spectators to walk out in the 77th minute to express discontent at the club's decision to charge 77 pounds ($112.09) for the most expensive ticket in Anfield's redeveloped main stand next season, up from 59 pounds.

Liverpool also announced this week that some season tickets for the 2016-17 campaign would be priced at more than 1,000 pounds for the first time.

A group representing fans' interests has been in talks with the club over ticket prices for more than a year and expressed disappointment earlier this week at Liverpool's failure "to lead in a fairer approach to ticket prices".

"LFC thinks its acceptable to make more money than ever before from supporters... Let's make sure the owners know this is unacceptable. On 77 minutes, leave your seat and walk out," the supporters' group Spion Kop 1906 said in a statement on Twitter.
